On Sunday the 5th May we made the trip to Alkborough to celebrate a family wedding - as guests! This doesn’t often happen, so we thought we’d include it in this week’s blog…
The wedding took place at Walcot Hall, a Grade II listed Georgian Hall built in 1726, which is beautifully situated on five acres of landscaped formal gardens within twenty-two acres of parkland in the North Lincolnshire countryside. We walked through a secret passageway which led to the gorgeous fountain garden, where the bride and groom said their vows in front of family and friends, with lovely readings from family members too. After the happy couple had been inside the hall to sign the register, they walked outside to see everyone lining the way as they took their first steps as man and wife.
It was quite surreal seeing someone else taking all of the photos for once! We got to watch as the new couple posed for photographs (and we’re in a few!) - the youngest member of the team managed to escape and photo bomb several times… what can we say, she loves the camera! The groom, his groomsmen, and all of the bridesmaids were in navy blue, and the bride wore a stunning beaded ivory dress from Deborah Moore Bridal in Hessle.
Once all of the pictures were done, it was time to eat - the amazing staff at Bon Apetit Specialist Catering made sure that we were all looked after, which was amazing as at least two of our children have special dietary requirements. It was no trouble at all, and we met Grace, a waitress who’s job it was to look after everyone with allergies and special diets.
Overall we had the most amazing time, and our toddler even danced for the very first time on a dance floor! We must also say thanks to Peter K Cars in Gainsborough for safely getting us there and back, and even picking us up earlier than scheduled when the little ones had tired themselves out dancing.
Congratulations to Bethany and Thomas, the new Mr & Mrs Holt - we wish you all the love in the world, and hopefully it will be our turn soon!
